Since its inception in 1996, the Foundation has assisted 52 students with more than $800,000 in scholarship funds, helping these students to realize the dream of a higher education after high school.
My name is Deja George and I am from Shiprock, New Mexico. I graduated from Navajo Preparatory School and am currently attending Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. I am majoring in Interior Architecture and Design and am currently a freshman.
My father passed away from a fatal work accident that occurred during my freshman year of high school but with the help from this scholarship I can continue with my higher education and make both him and my mother proud. As a single mother trying to just help us get by, the scholarship eased some of the burden from my mother.. The scholarship was able to help both of us financially as it helped to pay for my books, tuition, housing, meal plans, and many other things. Even the smallest amount is a huge help and I can’t express my gratitude enough to the Toby Wright scholarship for giving me the opportunity to continue attending school and not have to worry about paying for it.
